EMWACDC is a non-governmental organization, initiated in 1993 and established at country level in January 1995 with the aim of serving the whole person. It was officially registered at country level under the Ethiopian Ministry of Justice and the Federal Disaster Prevention and Preparedness Commission in April 2000.

Based on the new legislation of the country EMWACDC was re-registered with the Civil Societies Organization as Local Organization in March 2020.
